Hi everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by. It seems only fair to share a little about me since you've taken the time to visit my site. I've been teaching for quite a long time now--26 years to be exact this year! And 23 of those years have been in 3rd grade. I've had some opportunities to teach other grades, but whenever I really consider it, I realize how much I love this age. I've often told parents that it's a lot like getting a big hit in softball. You know that sound, when the ball hits the bat in the sweet spot? Yeah, it's like that. I tell them 3rd grade is the sweet spot. It's a perfect mix of little kid and big kid. Why would I want to leave that?!
In my past life I also taught ELP (gifted and talented) and did some reading and math resource. Those were valuable experiences which have helped me truly see every student, no matter what their academic level.
In addition to teaching, I have a pretty great family. I've been married for almost as long as I've been teaching, and I have 2 wonderful daughters. We love traveling as a family, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and watching the girls as they play softball and run track.
